INTRODUCING
THE MARRIAGE LAW CHALLENGE
[REDUX]


Several years ago, the WIKTT list on Yahoo issued a challenge whereby authors had to force Snape and Hermione into a magically-compelled marriage, following a decree by the Ministry of Magic. What followed was an explosion of Forced Marriage!Fic in every conceivable configuration (and some that defy understanding).

In a blatant rip-off of an homage to that challenge, I hereby declare that THE MARRIAGE LAW CHALLENGE [REDUX] is now open!

A compulsory marriage law has just been passed by the governing body of the area in which your characters reside/are visiting/whatever. It declares that no single character is allowed to remain unmarried, under pain of death/mutilation/banishment/slaps with a trout/etc. Further, this new law contains detailed requirements for intimacy and/or child-bearing and/or any other circumstances you can dream up. (In the spirit of the original challenge, hideously complicated conditions and caveats are encouraged.)

RULES
1. Any fandom, any characters, any rating.

2. Crossovers hold a special place of honor.

3. Especially if they're terribly cracky.

4. Anti-marriage law fics are more than welcome.

5. YOU MUST comment to this post if you plan to participate.

6. YOU MUST comment to this post with a link to your completed story BY 01 SEPTEMBER 06.

7. All completed fics will be linked in a compilation post ON 04 SEPTEMBER 06, which I have taken the liberty of declaring as Marriage Law Day.

8. And that's it. The beauty of this challenge is that it is whatever you make of it. Want Dumbledore and Umbridge to be magically bound until death does them part? Want House and Fox Mulder to have to shack up and somehow produce offspring? Want the entire cast of Veronica Mars to enter into some ridiculous polygamist arrangement? HAVE AT IT.

OMFG I am sooooooo in this. The problem, however, is which fandom to choose: Firefly, SG-1, [info]sg_15...and THEN I have to pick a pairing. Arrrrgh. To much to choose from!

Ishie's a nickname I was given on a message board a long time ago. I had no idea it was a surname until a few years ago (apparently it's also the first name of a college football player or something).

I'M HAVING A PLOT CRISIS.

Is it okay if, instead of it being a law that effects everyone, it's an old law that they're using so that people can gain entrance to a city? Like, one of the characters is Unclean, and cannot enter the city unless they bond with someone who *is* clean?

THIS PROBABLY DOESN'T MATTER AS LONG AS THEY'RE GETTING MARRIED. BUT I WORRY ABOUT THESE THINGS.

Okay! *wipes brow* Because, dude, I just can't come up with a plot that works like the original. AND, HONEST TO GOD, I'M VENTURING INTO MPREG HERE, AND I'M FRIGHTENED, BECAUSE I DON'T EVEN *READ* MPREG, WHY WOULD I WRITE IT, BUT APPARENTLY IT'S JUST WHAT THIS CRACKY CHALLENGE NEEDS.

I'm freaking out because of all the freaky-ness. AND THERE HASN'T EVEN BEEN THE SEX YET. o_O
