oh god
Just found out that I've bought a house.

...I can't even remember to feed myself on a regular schedule. What the fuck. WHAT THE FUCK.

It's not the house I really wanted (Big Pink, not the original, but a very down-on-its-luck 1840s farmhouse with original summer kitchen and outbuildings. Painted pink) but it's the second pick (1930s Cape Cod with cedar shingles and original "updated" mid-century decor (:D:) owned by a single family which included a carpenter).

I was aghast the day I realised I'd actually bought mine. It surreal and takes forever to sink in.

My brain is just on a loop of BUT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO SAY NO and HOW IS THIS A THING THAT'S ALLOWED.

...how is this a thing that's allowed? A house.

OH MY GOD! Congrats? Good Luck? What does one even say in this situation?! I wish I could bring you a bottle of wine or champagne for housewarming! PRETEND I BAKED YOU CUPCAKES. (I'd really bake you cupcakes, but it'd be up to you if you wanted to brave eating them, post-mailing!)

Thanks bb ♥ I will totally take virtual housewarming cupcakes!

Awesome! HOUSE PARTAY. ;)
damn your necromancy, woman![info]ishie on November 11th, 2011 02:57 am (UTC)
Hey, with this one at least no one's trashed it yet with daily slob-ery so having actual living human people over might still be a possibility! ;)

Barbara: Manekineko[info]htbthomas on November 11th, 2011 04:40 pm (UTC)
Oo, yeah, get that housewarming done before the daily slob-ery (and cat-ery - that's half our problem at my house) set in!

I fully expect the first official moved-in act to be cleaning up after an over-excited cat.

Congratulations! But I totally understand the shitting bricks part of things. I bought my house in November last year. After I signed the papers I spent two weeks freaking the fuck out. But after I moved in in January, I realised that having your own house is frigging fantastic, I adore it and I don't regret it at all.
damn your necromancy, woman![info]ishie on November 11th, 2011 02:58 am (UTC)
Thanks! I was totally fine with the entire thing while it was all theoretical but now we have a final price and contract ready to go... D: D: D:

So looking forward to that move-in feeling ♥
Rian[info]rian219 on November 11th, 2011 04:44 am (UTC)
That's exactly what happened to me - totally fine until I'd actually committed myself, then blind panic. I think that's fairly common, a lot of people told me it happened to them. I think it happens particularly when you buy a house by yourself because OMFG commitment!

The move-in feeling is great. :)

It's funny how no other major adulthood milestones have made me feel like such a complete fraud of a grown-up.

Yet.

Congrats on your new place too!

I'M A HOMEOWNER! This is the epitome of :D:

So jealous of your trip to Microsoft, btw. How's Dora doing?

Dora just remains the wonder-pup; I've started calling her my "little outlier"! She's now listed as a survivor on the National Canine Cancer foundation website--because 8 months is 2 months longer than median survival for hemangiosarcoma.

She's coming with me to my mom & stepdad's place in Hatteras for Thanksgiving, and I'm excited for her to see the beach for the first time. :-)
